Dewy Skin & Liquid Highlighters

Last year, a huge trend was complete matte skin. Well, this year we've done a 180 and have transitioned into dewy skin and these are just a few of the products I use to accomplish this look. One trend I LOVE is adding in a liquid highlighter into my foundation. This helps is your foundation doesn't necessarily have a dewy/satin finish and is more on the matte side but you still want that "glow-from-within" look. I am currently loving two different liquid highlighters right now. The first one is the Iconic London Liquid Illuminator in the shade Shine. This product comes from the UK so it can only be ordered online, sadly...and shipping isn't cheap. Luckily, they do have a student discount for their website for us college students! It goes for $44 in USD. This highlighter though is seriously blinding. Your friends need sunglasses just to look at you. I will say that it is a little hard to blend out with a sponge (I've been too afraid to try it with a brush... I will let ya'll know how it goes when I do decide to try it). I find it best to blend out with my finger and it works just fine. The other illuminator is the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade Celestial, which you can find at Sephora. This one isn't AS blinding as the Iconic London ones, BUT it's still more blinding than all the other liquid highlighters I own. So I'd say that's still saying something. This one, however, costs $42 and is much easier to blend out with my Real Technique's beauty sponge. The last liquid highlighter that I love to mix into my foundation is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter in the shade Prosecco Pop. This is a good item to mix into your foundation, but personally isn't enough for me just to pop on my cheekbones. If you're looking for more of a subtle highlight, then I would say go for it. Otherwise, I would stick to the other liquid highlighters. This one costs $41 and you can also find this one at Sephora.

Now, let's talk about foundation. I'm constantly changing up foundations. I have way more than what's pictured in this picture, but we can start with these. I really enjoy mixing my drugstore Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow foundation in the shade 202 with my bareMinerals BarePro foundation in the shade 02 Dawn. The bareMinerals foundation is $34 and can be found at Sephora or Ulta, as well as online of course. The Loreal foundation can be found at any drugstore; I happen to get mine from Walmart. This is the concoction that I mixed my Cover FX highlighter with. This two combined just give me the desired coverage I'm looking for without being cakey. These days, I don't really wear just one foundation, primarily because I literally can NEVER find a shade that exactly matches my skin color. I suffer from a lot of acne and rosacea so my skin is more red than it ever is a shade of foundation. However, the the Ordinary Coverage Foundation is the closest I've ever come to matching my color. I bought two colors, Very Fair and Fair. It's only $7, but can only be bought online. However, it seems to separate around my nose area and attaches to my dry spots :( so I'm not it's biggest fan. Some days it looks nice and some days it's a mess. It's really a hit or miss. The Smashbox Studio Skin foundation is what I use when I have my fake tan on so I got it in a darker shade, "2.15", which is $42 and can be found at Sephora. Studio Skin is a very hydrating foundation, so I'm actually going to get it in a lighter shade for when I'm more pale and tan-less.

Of course, after foundation, I put on my favorite and best concealer ever: Tarte Shape Tape in Fair, which is $27. Sadly, this item is only at Ulta and not Sephora. This is the most full coverage concealer in the market right now and no company can seem to out-do it. I love it because it covers my acne especially. After that, I will set my face A LITTLE with my bareMinerals Bare Pro Powder Foundation, which is also in the shade 02 Dawn and $30. We still want to keep the dewy skin, so I will barely put my brush into the compact. We want just enough powder so nothing transfers, but still has all the glow. Adding a powder foundation over your regular foundation will just give you that little extra coverage you're looking for.

These are all great products to help achieve the "dewy skin" glow!
