Bronzed Goddess

A huge trend this past summer was the "Bronzed Goddess" look. What does that mean? Well, it basically means putting a whole heck of a lot of bronzer all over your face. Some people think you can "over-do" bronzer and to some degree, they're right. If you don't apply it correctly, bronzer can turn muddy real fast and there's no turning back. At the same time, with the correct application, you can just look like you've been out in the all day with the sun radiating through you. Normally, you keep your bronzer and highlight separate on your skin, but with this look, it's alright for them to mesh together. A lot of people prefer completely matte bronzers, such as the Butter Bronzer by Physician's Formula ($14.99) but this look really needs a bronzer with some shimmer in it like the Milani Baked Bronzer ($8.99) in shade 04 Glow. The Butter Bronzer is more of a cool toned bronzer, which can be used to contour as well. Meanwhile, the Milani bronzer is warm toned, which usually works better for me when I'm tan. Warm toned bronzers can tend to look more orange on fair skin. The Milani bronzer also has small gold specks in it to help give that radiant look, while not having chunky noticeable glitter in it. I also love using blushes with a little shimmer in that as well to help amp up the radiance of the whole look. Recently, I've fallen in love with Milani's Baked Blush ($6.99) in Luminoso and one of from Ulta called Tiger Lily, ($12) which has one side with a satin finish and the other with shimmer. I love to mix both sides of the Ulta one together. I received the Ulta blush as a gift in a gift set. so it doesn't look like they have split one available anymore, but the shimmering Tiger Lily is still a blush there. Of course it wouldn't be a luminous look without some highlight. For a Bronze Goddess look, I would definitely lay down a liquid highlighter down first, but then I like to lay down a powder highlighter to make it even brighter. One of my brightest highlighters is the Ofra Highlighter in Rodeo Drive ($29). Rodeo Drive is a light gold shade, which can sometimes leave a dark cast on fair skin tones if you apply too much. Another great highlighter is the Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder in Devotion ($44). This shade is more of a white pink highlight, which somehow still look quite natural, unlike all of the holographic highlighters that have been coming out recently. You could also opt for a cream highlighter like the Super Shock Highlighter by ColourPop, in the shade Lunch Money. Another favorite of mine form Colourpop, used to be the shade Smokin' Whistles. I've been meaning to repurchase it for about a year now, because Colourpop is SUPER cheap with great products. Colourpop just launched in Sephora also, which is AMAZING because we can finally know swatch their shades in person!! It's so hard to find shades you may want to try when you're only option is to pick them online. Super happy about that.
Either way, the Bronze Goddess isn't just meant for summer. I manage to pull it off all year round without shame!
